The process starts with the collection of raw material or ‘rag’ as we call it. Our own fleet of vans and trailers collects the rag from various charity shops, schools and textile banks throughout the East Midlands.
2
When the vans are unloaded at our factory, the bags are opened and fed along a conveyor belt system. Heavy items, shoes and waste are removed first and placed into their respective cages. This system carries on until the last items to be removed are very lightweight clothing.
3
After the items have been separated, the fine grading begins.  Staff who are experienced in this process, inspect each item before it is placed into a tub and the tubs are weighed.
4
Each tub is placed into an electronic lift and sent to a large baler and gantry system. This allows the three twin East African balers to be gravity fed and compressed into 45 Kg or 55 Kg bales.
5
Certain markets require products in even larger bales. The goods are fed by automatic feeder from large metal cages into a double box baler. This has the capacity to handle bales starting from 300 Kg to 500 Kg.
6
Our purpose built wool processing belt and mutilator processes fabric which is sent to countries who extricate the fibre for spinning and weaving into new garments. This helps to preserve textile industries in developing countries.
7
When baling is complete, the finished bales are taken into the shipping area for loading into sea containers which are dispatched to all corners of the globe.
